Ladle shroud also known as the protective sleeve, is mainly used between the ladle and the intermediate ladle. Its function is to prevent the secondary oxidation and splashing of molten steel when entering the intermediate ladle from the ladle.

Submerged entry nozzles can protect steel from being oxidized when liquid steel flow into crystallizer from tundish. It also can distribute the liquid steel and control the flow pattern in the crystallizer.
