Ladle shroud also known as the protective sleeve, is mainly used between the ladle and the intermediate ladle. Its function is to prevent the secondary oxidation and splashing of molten steel when entering the intermediate ladle from the ladle.

Its character:

1) Good thermal shock resistance.

(2)Good resistance to corrosion from molten steel and slag.

(3) Good mechanical strength and seismic resistance.

(4)The connection of the ladle shroud outlet must be equipped with an argon sealing device.

According to the material, there are two types.

1) Fused silica ladle shroud

The characteristics are: good thermal shock resistance, high mechanical strength and chemical stability, acid resistance and slag erosion resistance.No need bake before use. This type of ladle shroud is suitable for pouring general steel grades and is not suitable for pouring steel grades with high manganese content, otherwise its service life will be reduced.

(2) Aluminum carbon ladle shroud

This type of nozzle is mainly made from corundum and graphite as the main raw materials. Its characteristic is strong adaptability to steel industry, especially suitable for pouring special steel, with low pollution to molten steel. The material can also be adjusted according to the length of pouring time and steel grade, or a layer of other high corrosion-resistant materials can be composite to improve the service life of the water outlet.

Aluminum carbon long nozzles generally need to be baked before use, otherwise there is a risk of cracking.
